Admissions Policy

Our formal standard number is 102 pupils which operates as 4 classes of about 26 children per year group. It is the policy of the Governors to admit the children of all parents who opt for their children to be educated at the school. In the event of more applications being received than there are places available, the local authority conducts the appeals procedure.

Parents/Carers and School

Just as you have high expectations of William Bellamy Junior School and its staff, we too have high expectations of you, the parent/carers. In choosing to send your child to our school we expect to work in partnership in providing an all round education for your child.
We would ask you:-

  • to support the school's aims and objectives;
  • encourage self-discipline in your child by re-enforcing the school's code of conduct;
  • ensure your child attends school regularly and punctually.
  • keep us informed of anything that happens at home which might cause changes in the behaviour or attitude of your child;
  • support extra curricular activities such as school productions, curriculum workshops for parents and open days.
  • to sign the home-school agreement which each child and parent is requested to sign.
  • to send your child to school appropriately dressed, preferably in school uniform.

First Aid

First aid will be dealt with by Mrs.J.Stokes, Mrs.H.Coomb, Mrs.L.Wilton, Mrs.A.Gullifer and Mrs.s.North.

MEDICAL

Parents can request a medical examination to be carried out if there is a particular need. This request would be given to our school nurse on her next visit. If your child has any medical problems, or allergies please ensure the school is informed.

When a child is ill in school, he/she is normally staight away seen by Mrs.Stokes, who is a qualified first aider. If necessary, we will contact the parents or, in the case of emergency, take the child to hospital. There are other trained first aiders on the premises throughout the school day.

Medicines in School

If children need to take any medicine, or have any creams or lotions applied whilst at school a medical form, available from the School Office, must be completed by parents.
Under no circumstances are children permitted to keep any medication with them at school. All items must be securely held in the First Aid Room and administered by one of the First Aid staff. All medicines sent to school must be clearly named.
Children who have been prescribed an inhaler/pump for use during the school day, will keep these with them to use as necessary.

Emergencies

It is possible for occasions to arise, as in the event of a pupil's illness or accident, when contact with the parent becomes an urgent necessity.

Generally such contact can be made at home but where both parents are at work, some difficulty may arise. It is vital that we have an emergency contact name and/or telephone number.

Please ensure your child has returned an emergency form to school.
Change of address and places of work, telephone number, doctor etc. should be notified as they occur.

It is most important that these records are kept up to date.
