Attendance and Punctuality

Regular attendance is essential if a pupil is to make all possible progress. Your co-operation is requested in the matter of notifying reasons of absence by letter. Where a pupil has to attend clinic or hospital for medical or dental treatment advance notification will enable the pupil to be given his/her mark. No child will be allowed to leave the school during a session time unless in the care of his parent or their representative. In no event will a telephoned message count as authorisation in this respect.

We see punctuality and regular attendance as very important and we ask for your complete co-operation in this matter.

School starts at 8.55am and if a child is late on more than three occasions we will inform you in writing and seek to find out the reasons for this lateness. If a child's attendance gives us cause for concern we will arrange a meeting with parents in an attempt to discover the reasons and work together to solve any problems.
Our Attendance Officer will phone on the first day of absence of any child unless the school is notified before 10.00am of the reason for that absence.

Holidays

The governors, after careful consideration, have decided that no authorisation will be given for holidays in school time. If any parent/carer wishes to speak to a governor it may be arranged.

The Attendance and Access Officer regularly checks the school register and will contact parents where children are regularly late or have frequent absences.

Children's Day-time Appointments

If children have appointments which mean they have to leave school during session times (i.e. between 8.55 and 3.10pm) we must be notified of this, preferably in writing. The adults meeting them must report to the Reception Desk to collect them.
